Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is also a cognitive-behavioral approach to treating PTSD and related problems by teaching clients how to gradually confront trauma-related memories, thoughts, and feelings through in-session imaginal exposures and between session in-vivo exposures. Confronting these memories, thoughts, and feelings in a gradual way, combined with training in relaxation techniques, has been shown effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD and related disorders.
As a rostered network provider of PE through the Strong Star Training Network, I have completed in-depth training in the use of PE with individuals with PTSD and other trauma-related disorders.
